I'm especially fond of the way you open and close the track! The end feels like a call back, but a little more sinister. Great stuff as always. That painting is tremendously creepy. I was introduced to all things Jack the Ripper by the 1967 Star Trek episode, "Wolf in the Fold" and that somehow led me to falling in love with Agatha Christie books.

Thanx! So, now that I am thinking of it, I can't believe I forgot to mention my gateway drug to The Ripper was a very campy 1979 movie called Time after Time with Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen where HG Wells chases The Ripper around in a time machine.

Yes! I’ve seen that too! It’s peak camp, I’d forgotten about that movie. I must have seen it some late night as a teen

"Off-kilter greatness," indeed. Also: Consider: Shetland, Sherlock, Wallander, Annika, the latest spate of Agatha Christie remakes, Only Murders in the Building, and the three variations on The Bridge (the Danish/Swedish original, the British/French "The Tunnel", and the American/Mexican "The Bridge" again).

Lots to cover here: have watched or unfamiliar with all of these except Annika. Have to look into that one! Wallander is next on the list, though we just started Unforgotten and it is excellent so far.

Annika is one shoe I mentioned while recommending the outstanding Unforgotten (Seasons 1-4) to you folks. Nicola Walker stars in both.

Definitely “The Bridge” - big fan of the Danish/Swedish version.

Also recommended - “The Killing” American series based on Danish novel (Joel Kinnamon is great!)

and “Bordertown” - Finnish series that is fantastic.

Just FYI before I even read/listen to this, do you know that I am Jack the Ripper enthusiast? Obviously not of his work, but of the whole mystery of his identity, the crimes, etc.? I own the book “The Complete Jack the Ripper” and have taken the Ripper walking tour in London. Looking forward to this edition of PC!

"Obviously not of his work..." is pretty darn funny. And no, I didn't know that, can't wait to hear your thoughts!

I think the beat hit all the themes that you were going for. For myself, I think a tune for Jack requires a loiter more malevolence! But, to be fair, perhaps you need to see the crime scene photos for that (the book has them).

I have to work on my musical malevolence!

And I, on better catching of vicious autocorrects. Loiter?!

Great beat and super creepy painting. I love the sound effects here. The whole Jack the Ripper mystery is fascinating, I need to brush up on it!

I don't know how long you've been doing this but I love how you arrive and maintain the dissonances

they never get heavy

There's always a good balance there

It even makes me open up about the context that led you to compose (which is something I have little interest in)

But I've heard it a few times already

very good

Thanx so much for the kind words! Yeah... I tend to think the melody will always tie things together!
