Somehow, my comment was vaporized but the gist of it was that the beat seems to evoke two sensations, as does the painting: (1) the foreboding power of the water as its rise and fall dashes the ship and tosses the raft, and (2) the despair and terror of those losing their lives. The colors work for the reduction.
